Can I Fit 2 Kuat Piston SR Roof Bike Racks on my Square bars?

Question:
Hello, I have been looking at the Kuat Piston SR Roof Bike Rack for 1 Bike - Wheel Mount - Aluminum. I have and older mountain bike with 2.25 tires?. Will this bike rack be able to accommodate that size tire? I know that it shows max width was 5. Also the rack will be installed on my existing square bars on my kayak trailer. I have about 19 of space to work with and install 2 racks. Though it specs at 4-15/16 wide, will I need more room to accommodate the peddles or bike handles? Thanks for all your help.

Hey Lito! You asked some great questions. I can tell you've done your research!
The Kuat Piston SR Roof Bike Rack part #KU32VR will definitely work with your older mountain bike with 2.25" wide tires. The rack is designed to handle tires up to 5" wide, so you’re well within the range.
As for mounting two of these racks on your kayak trailer's square bars, you mentioned you have about 19" of space to work with. The base of the Kuat Piston Racks measure just under 5" wide so clearance will be tight for pedals and handle bars. They should fit but taking them on and off the rack may be difficult. The handle bars may also touch during transport.
