Replacement 25-1/4" Eye to Eye 6,000 lbs Leaf Spring to Replace a Hemco 72-42

Updated 04/09/2025 | Published 04/08/2025

Question:

I have a 5th wheel, I think the leaf springs the previous owner installed are too light. 32 5th wheel, 12400 GVWR, twin Lippert 5200 lb axels, with ST 235/80/R16 E tires. The leaf springs are Hemco 72-42. 4 leaf, 25-1/4 eye to eye. Thank you

Hey Tait thanks for the information! I recommend upgrading your Hemco springs with our 5-Leaf Double-Eye Spring for 6,000-lb Trailer Axles item # e34SR. These are 5-leaf springs with a 6,000 lbs capacity.

When you swap out your leaf springs, you'll also want to switch out your hardware as those wet bolts are only meant to be torqued down once. You'll want to pick a kit with the closest size to your current shackle straps.

The MORryde Suspension Upgrade Kit for Tandem Axle Trailers item # MR46ZR is for 2-1/4" shackles or item # MR76ZR is for 3-1/8" shackles. These kits come with the bronze bushings, wet bolts and shackle straps.

What kind of 5th wheel trailer do you have?
