Question:

Bought a 2001 Chevy B7 Bus / Skoolie and want to install a Class IV or V hitch. Must be able to tow a 7000 lb. Trailer. Outside to outside of frame measures 33” 3/4. Do you offer a custom that would fit and with or without a ? I would really like to avoid welding on. Thank you !!!

Hello David,

Wow, that is a really cool bus! What are you plans with it?

We do have something that will work, but it will need to be welded. For a bolt on application the best we have to offer is something like the Adjustable Width Trailer Hitch Receiver for RVs, 18" to 51" Wide # C13702 which is rated for 5K, when you use a weight distribution hitch like Equal-i-zer Weight Distribution System w/ 4-Point Sway Control - 10,000 lbs GTW, 1,000 lbs TW # EQ37100ET it would bump the towing capacity to 6K. If your trailer really weighs 7K your best bet is going with something like the Class V Universal Weld-on Receiver Hitch and Brackets with 3" Drop # 15901 and having a local fabricator weld it on.

We have dealers all over the US that do installs for a fee of course, you could reach out to one of them if you are not looking to weld it on yourself. I attached a link to find one in your area.

Hey David, what did you end up doing for the hitch on your Chevy bus? Your setup could really help others trying to tow a similar trailer weight. Sharing what worked might guide the next person with a Skoolie project.
