Replacement Leaf Springs for 2005 Bigfoot 25B25RQ

Updated 03/25/2025 | Published 03/17/2025

Question:

Hi, I need to replace the leaf springs on my 2005 Bigfoot 25B25RQ. Can you tell me the correct specs for the springs, please? It currently has 24 5-leaf springs but the springs are binding up against the equalizer, so I believe either the springs are too long or the equalizer is too wide. Thanks for any advice you can offer!

Hey Joe! Are these the leaf springs that came with your trailer? If so, I would say the length is correct. If they have completely flattened out over time that might account for the binding. I'm not sure how you measured so I went ahead and attached an article below which explains different ways to measure for your reference. Also, do you know your axle capacity? If you have 3,500 lb axles you could potentially use the # e59SR which is 23-1/8" spring eye to spring eye. If you have something else please let me know in the comments below.

Yes, I have the original springs. Eye-to-eye measurement is 24"...probably flattened out quite a bit over time. Axle capacity is 3,500 lbs. The E59SR spring is the right length, but what about capacity (should be 1,750 lbs, I think)? Is a 3-leaf spring the right replacement for my 5-leaf springs? I'll also need Dexter EZ-Flex kit w/bushings & all the pieces...which one do you recommend? Thanks for the help...

@JoeM the 3-leaf spring will work since they have the same capacity. They are technically 1,750 lbs per spring we just list them by axle capacity to make it easier. Since you have a 6" long equalizer you need the Dexter E-Z Flex Suspension Kit # K71-652-00. This is slightly shorter at 5-3/4" so it will also help with the binding but it isn't enough of a difference to throw off your suspension geometry.
