The size of the replacement leaf springs on your 2012 Keystone Cougar 27RLS should be the same as what you have now. To be more specific, you need to match the length as well as the axle capacity. Based on the weight of your trailer it looks like you have 3,500 lb axles but I would check the axle tag to be sure.
The length is something you will have to measure. The standard is the spring eye to spring eye measurement. You can also use the flat measurement since your leaf springs will have flattened over time as they wear out. See the article below which explains how to measure. Assuming you have 3,500 axles we have the following available based on length:
-3-Leaf Double-Eye Spring for 3,500-lb Trailer Axles - 23-1/8" Long # e59SR
-4-Leaf Double-Eye Spring for 3,500-lb Trailer Axles - 25-1/8" Long # e54SR
-4-Leaf Double-Eye Spring for 3,500-lb Trailer Axles - 27" Long # e97SR
If you're wanting an upgrade kit like the # MR79ZR you looked at you will also need to measure your shackle straps from center hole to center hole. If you have 2-1/4" you need the # MR46ZR and for 3-1/8" the # MR76ZR. This is a very simple but effective upgrade to make sure your suspension components last.
If you want to take things further you could add an upgraded equalizer like the Dexter E-Z Flex # K71-652-00. This also includes a wet bolt kit with 2-1/4" shackles. The upgraded equalizer should be the same size as your current equalizer or as close as possible. This one measures 5-3/4" between the outer shackle bolt holes (center on center) which is the most important to match. If you have different measurements please let me know and I would be happy to help you find the best fit.
If you want the most comprehensive upgrade that is going to be the Roadmaster Comfort Ride Leaf Spring Suspension Kit w/ Shock Absorbers # RM82MR. This replaces the leaf springs, equalizer, and adds shocks. The system turns your current leaf spring suspension into an independent suspension system giving you unmatched ride quality. Of course this also comes with a high price tag.
I attached some review and installation videos below, along with the help article on measuring leaf springs for your reference.
