Is Drilling Required To Install A Hitch On A 2025 Chevrolet Equinox?

Updated 10/27/2025 | Published 03/11/2025

Question:

I had a 2022 Equinox with the curt 13439 and removed it prior to trading it for a 2025 Equinox lt. Looking at frame the bolts and bolt tray will not fit through the access hole. Will we need to drill to make hole bigger or are missing something.

Congrats on your new Equinox, Linda!

The Curt 13439 (our part number # C77FR ) will definitely fit your new 2025 Chevy Equinox, as long as it isn't a diesel model, but you will need to enlarge some of the access holes with a rotary tool (or something similar). However, you will not need to drill new holes into the frame.

One thing I do need to say though, you really shouldn't use the bolts from the original install. Once they are torqued down and backed off, they are never as strong as they were were when they were new. You will want to grab the # RHK to get all new hardware. Just add the 13439 part number to the drop down before clicking add to cart, and you will get an entirely new hardware kit.

If you need anything else or have further questions, let me know in the comments below. Always happy to help!

PS, We don't have have any pictures of this installed on 2025 Equinox yet, so if you wanted to send a couple of the finished product, we would be most appreciative : )

Hi Linda, how did things go with enlarging the access holes for your Curt hitch on the 2025 Equinox? Did the new hardware kit make the install go smoother? Your update could make it easier for the next person working on the same setup.
