What is Second Smaller Pin Hole for on Draw-Tite Hitch Receiver

Updated 10/28/2025 | Published 03/08/2025

Question:

Hi, I have the eTrailer brand tilting cargo rack. I finally assembled it yesterday with no problems, BUT the anti vibration pin is proving to be a problem. I have a Drawtite receiver hitch on my Sprinter. There are two holes. The larger one is for the pin I use when I tow my trailer. The smaller one needed some cleaning and it fits the anti-vibration pin BUT I would need to grind the receiver hole another .100 for the shank to allow it to seat flush. That cant be right, can it? The receiver hole ID is .526 which will fit the pin except for the larger shank. Please advise. Thank you!

Hey Amy, thanks for reaching out!

You'll need to use the larger of the two pin holes on your Draw-Tite hitch when installing the 24x60 etrailer Cargo Carrier # e98874.

Back in the day, Draw-Tite had a special J-Style pin that fit in both pin holes but they got rid of that pin a few years ago. The larger hole is for standard hitch pins so that's what you'll want to stick with!

Let me know if you have any other questions!

Hey Amy, how did things go once you used the larger pin hole on your Draw-Tite hitch with the tilting cargo carrier? Your update could make it easier for others running into the same pin fit issue.
