Recommended PSI for Taskmaster 4.80R12 Radial Trailer Tire

Updated 02/23/2025 | Published 02/19/2025

Question:

Hello, I bought and installed the 4.80-12 RADIAL tires from e.trailer.com for my boat trailer last year but I have not used them yet. However, Im about to use them extensively. Ive seen the recommendation for 90 psi in the tire but has there been any conclusive feedback from customers? I typically see wear in the center of the tires at higher psis with bias ply tires 36 years of experience. Im hoping to learn the optimum psi to run in these radials BEFORE is see premature wear. Any help is appreciated. thank you in advance

Hey Karl! The tires you purchased were the Taskmaster 4.80R12 Radial Trailer Tire # TT48012C. These should always be run at the maximum 90 psi. Most trailer tires should be kept at the max psi listed on the side of the tire.

There are only a few brands out there where you can run them at various pressures like Goodyear but, they also have a chart so you know the max load at different psi. If you were to run these under 90 psi it would lead to an unknown capacity which may cause failure. If you have any other questions feel free to reach out in the comments below.
