How do I hook up the wires to power the jack? Should I power off the 7 way or install a battery on my trailer tongue?

You could do either one! The etrailer Electric Trailer Jack item # e55ZV can be wired to the accessory circuit through your trailer's 7-way connector or you can connect it directly to your trailer's battery.
The accessory circuit is typically a yellow wire at the 1 o'clock position, but you can use a circuit tester like item # PTW2993 to locate it.
