Does Stealth Hitch that Fits 2021 BMW X5 Block Hands Free Liftgate Sensors

Question:

I have a 2021 BMW X5 M50i and Im thinking about buying an etrailer towing kit. My SUV has a rear kick sensor that allows the rear hatch to open by kicking your foot under the rear bumper. Would installing an etrailer towing kit remove the rear kick sensor functionality? I would like to retain the rear kick sensor functionality and have the etrailer towing kit. Thanks, Ron

Hey Ron, with the ball mount or hitch tube attachment of the Stealth hitch part # SH25VR mounted you would need to kick to either side of it to activate the kick sensor but with the attachment removed you wouldn't be affected at all.

What are you planning on towing?

A motorcycle trailer I’m asking because if the OEM hitch receiver is installed, the kick sensor is not

@RonW Ahh I see. So this will not require removing the sensors and Stealth has even told us that this will not affect the sensors once the hitch is installed.
