Recommended 5th Wheel and Adapter for a 2020 Ram 2500

Updated 11/06/2025 | Published 01/10/2025

Question:

I have a 2020 Ram 2500 mega cab and I own a 5th wheel camper. I have the factory holes already in the bed for the 5th wheel adapter. Can you let me know which one I need that would work with my truck setup? Thank you in advance

Josh, are you looking for a 5th wheel that fits in the pucks or an adapter for a 5th wheel that fits in the pucks? If you just need an adapter and have a 5th wheel, you can use the Adapter Rails for Curt 5th Wheel Hitch # C29BR. This adapter is only needed if you need to use a Curt 5th wheel hitch for standard rails like the Curt A16 5th Wheel Trailer Hitch # C16120.

If you're looking for a 5th wheel that already has those legs for the pucks, then you can use something like the Curt Q20 5th Wheel Trailer Hitch for Ram Towing Prep Package # C16530-16021 or the B&W Companion OEM 5th Wheel Hitch for Ram Towing Prep Package # BWRVK3600.

If you are looking for something different feel free to drop a comment and I'd be happy to help!

Hey Josh, how did things work out with the 5th wheel setup for your Ram 2500? Did the adapter or one of the hitches mentioned end up fitting your towing prep package the way you needed? Your update could make it easier for others setting up a similar truck and camper combo.

@JerredH I haven’t actually needed it yet but I will be purchasing it in the near future. The trailer is just stationary at the moment

@JoshC Sounds good! I am going to go a little deeper with the recommendation though. The 2020 Ram 2500 mega cab has the shorter 6-1/2" bed. Typically with a shorter bed length we recommend a sliding hitch like the item # BWRVK3670, unless you have a rotating pin box. This is to ensure you have enough clearance to make tight turns without running into the back of your cab. If you do have a rotating pin box the B&W Companion item # BWRVK3600 would be the best option. You're going to want to go with a hitch that sits inside the puck system especially with those taller Rams. The item # C29BR adapter is going to add an extra 2" of height to the top of any 5th wheel hitch you attach to it. What kind of pin box does your 5th wheel trailer have?
