What is the Difference in the Gen-Y Nomad and the Gen-Y Executive for Rhino Pin Boxes?

Updated 03/21/2026 | Published 03/19/2026

Question:

I’m looking at a few of your hitches to change from 5th wheel to gooseneck. Will the GY37ND match up with my Rhino box. Pictures will not upload for some reason. I’ve also considered the GY33GR. Big price difference but other than that what should I consider between the two?

Thanks for the picture and information Charles! The Gen-Y Hitch Nomad item # GY37ND and item # GY33GR will indeed replace the factory Rhino pin box on your Grand Design.

The difference between the Gen-Y Hitch Nomad item # GY37ND and the Gen-Y Hitch Shock Absorbing 5th Wheel to Gooseneck Pin Box item # GY33GR is all about comfort and convenience. The Nomad is as basic as you can get. It has a SnapLatch coupler system, which automatically locks when lowered onto the hitch ball. There is no shock absorbing or cushioning technology.

The Gen-Y Hitch Shock Absorbing 5th Wheel to Gooseneck Pin Box item # GY33GR is the top of the line option! It features a rubber torsion-flex system that absorbs road shock from your trailer before it's transferred to your truck. This pin box focuses on driver comfort.

If you're not worried about the cost and want the most comfortable option, I strongly recommend the Gen-Y item # GY33GR.

Please note you will also need the Safety Chain with 2 Hooks for Gen-Y 5th Wheel to Gooseneck Pin Box item # GY49GR. Safety chains are required for gooseneck connections and they are not included with the pin boxes. These will attach to that cross looking cutout by the Gen-Y logo.

What kind of roads do you typically travel?

Definitely recommend the Gen-Y GY33GR. Having recently started traveling the first time pulling a 5th wheel this hitch is worth the extra cost.
