Looking For Replacement Lid Supports For Used Yakima Cargo Carrier

Updated 01/09/2025 | Published 01/07/2025

Question:

Him I just bought a Yakima cargo carrier used. It appears one of the lid supports is damaged. When looking online I only see hinge supports with one arm but it appears my box each hinge support has two arms. Did Yakima change this?

Hello Christina, thanks for getting in touch. Yakima did chance their hinge design and it has been a good while since this change. The current ones are the "single arm" style like the # 8880683 you were looking at. It can be tricky when buying old used products but if you can tell me the specifically what cargo box you have like the name or model number I am happy to look into it and see what replacement parts are available. It might be possible to swap to the new style hinges depending on what you have.

@ChristinaB So we have heard that the new lid support # 8880683 will work with the now discontinued Skybox 16 part # Y07335.

@Christina It can work on a 2020 Outback, yes. Just make sure your crossbars are between 24" and 36" apart. Also note that there must be at least 47" between the center of the front crossbar and the line where the roof and the hatch meet. Otherwise you will not be able to fully open the hatch.
