Dimensions of the Mounting Area of Yakima Skybox Cargo Boxes

Question:

Hello, I need to know the dimensions on the underside, as it relates to mounting. I understand cross bars can be moved, and that is clear. What is not clear, is if this box is 36 exterior width, I assume that is maximum. What is the distance from the exterior edge, to the outside edge of the mounts? If you need me to give crossbar distance, lets say it is 24, and then another option being 36. I have about 30 from an obstruction on the left looking at the box from the rear to the end of the bars on the right side, not including end caps. Thank you

I've included an image of several of Yakima's boxes so you can get an idea of the shapes available. From what it sounds like you need, I recommend Yakima's SkyBox 12, part # Y07334. This is a thinner box that can hold up to 210cm skis easily inside of its box. From the sides, the outside edge of the mounts is about 6 inches away from the edge of the box, and it is a total of 25 inches across.

The Skybox 21, part # Y07337 is 36 inches wide and has its mounting hardware edge at about 7-1/2 inches in from its outside edge.
