Hello Kenneth,
Looks like you were on the right track with the wiring. The Hopkins Plug-In Simple Vehicle Wiring Harness # HM11143910 is going to get a 7 way, and 4 flat on the back of the 2011 Lexus LX 570. After reading the reviews, it looks like there are connectors on both the passenger and driver side of your vehicle. You will need to connect to the the ones on the driver side. One of our awesome customers was kind enough to share a picture of these connectors, so I went ahead and attached it so you know exactly what to look for.
From what I can see, the 2011 Lexus LX 570 comes with a hitch already on the vehicle, which is a good thing because none of the aftermarket manufacturers make one. If you do not see the square receiver on the back of the vehicle, there is usually a panel you need to remove on the bumper to see it. If you look under your bumper, you should see the hitch.
For a brake controller I really like the Curt Spectrum Brake Controller w/ Custom Harness # C77GV. The knob that is installed on the dash makes it easily accessible for changing the setting on the brakes, or in an emergency situation being able to hit the manual override. If you are looking for something more cost effective that will get the job done, I would go with the Tekonsha Voyager Trailer Brake Controller w/ Custom Harness # TK62UR as it is still proportion meaning the trailer brakes will apply when you hitch the brakes in your Lexus.
You are also going to need a ball mount as well, the Draw-Tite Ball Mount w/ 2" Ball for 2" Hitches - 3/4" Rise, 2" Drop - 7,500 lbs # DT49MR is a great kit, it will come with the ball mount, 2" ball, and even your hitch pin and clip.
Let me know what you think of the set up. Also, if you do not see a hitch at the back of your vehicle please let me know.
Happy New Year, may 2025 be your best year yet! From, your friends here at etrailer!
