Question:
Hello, I have a new to me trailer from 1996. It has a broken brake line, and currently a fixed tongue it doesnt actuate/move. It also has drum brakes. Im thinking I need a whole new brake kit, actuator, lines, maybe even brakes themselves. But was hoping someone could help me what I need for my application? Trailer sticker says rated for 4500 max load capacity, and 5200 max gross weight. Its dual axel, but only brakes on the front axel. Is this something you can help with? Thanks

Thanks for all of the info, Erin!
This is definitely something we can help out with, but it would be helpful to verify a few things before hitting that "purchase" button. According to what you've told me, it sounds like you have two 3,500 lb axles so if this is the case you can use the following:
- Dexter DX7.5L A-60 Brake Actuator # DX33FR (fits on a 3" wide trailer tongue)
- Hydraulic Trailer Brake Kit # AKFBBRK-35
- Kodiak Hydraulic Brake Line Kit # 18SI-BLKIT
This will get you brakes for that one axle. Having brakes only on one axle isn't super uncommon, but I do recommend adding brakes to both axles so the brakes have mor combined power, and they won't wear down as fast. If you choose to go this route then you'll need the following:
- Dexter DX7.5L A-60 Brake Actuator # DX33FR (fits on a 3" wide trailer tongue)
- Hydraulic Trailer Brake Kit # AKFBBRK-35 (2 kits)
- Kodiak Hydraulic Brake Line Kit # 20TA-BLKIT
If you have axles with different weight ratings please let me know and I'll be more than happy to help you make sure you get the right parts!

Hey Erin, how did things go with the Dexter brake actuator and the hydraulic brake kits for your trailer? Were you able to confirm your axle ratings and get the new parts fitted? Your update could make it easier for others working on older trailers like yours.
