Why are the Pin Holes On the B&W Reducer Sleeve Oblong

Updated 12/15/2025 | Published 11/27/2024

Question:

Regarding Part Number: BWRHXA2182, one set of pin holes looks oval. If that is correct, why is it oval and not round? Seems odd and leaves room for slop. Can you give me more confidence in the oval pin hole as that is the one I would use since I have a Ram 2500. Thanks, 2024 Ram 2500 6.4L, Laramie, 64inch w/o Ram Box

Michael, actually both holes in the B&W Hitch Receiver Reducer Sleeve # BWRHXA2182 are slightly oblong. This is just to make things a bit easier to line up, and the slop you're concerned about is negligible.

The two sets of holes are so you can get a custom fit for most factory and aftermarket hitches. To get the correct fit for whatever you're using, you'd need to adjust the orientation of the pinched ends so that the pin holes line up with your receiver tube pin holes.

Hey Michael, how did the fit of the B&W hitch reducer sleeve turn out on your Ram 2500? Did the oblong holes line up well once you adjusted the sleeve orientation? Your feedback could help others wondering about the same fit.
