Yakima EXOSwing Away 2 Bike Rack w/ Enclosed Cargo Carrier On 2023 Ram Promaster 3500 With Spare

Question:
Hello, I am interested in the Yakima EXO Swing Away 2 Bike Rack w/ Enclosed Cargo Carrier. I have a 2023 Ram Promaster 3500 van. I have a spare tire mounted on the rear of the van. It protrudes from the rear bumper 12 inches and is 12 inches above the 2 hitch. I understand I can purchase a hitch extender. Will this setup work with my spare tire? Also, will my back up camera still work? Thank you.

Hello Terri.
The Yakima EXO Swing Away 2 Bike Rack w/ Enclosed Cargo Carrier - 2" Hitches # Y34ZR is definitely an awesome system with so many interchangeable accessories that can be purchased. You will need to double check the clearance to see if this can me added with the spare tire mounted on the back. From the center of hitch pin hole to the closest part of the rack is 4-1/2". You will need to double check that measurement and if it will clear the tire. If you do not have the clearance I recommend trying to move the spare tire carrier if you can to a different location as the EXO system cannot be used with any hitch extenders, or adapters.

Hello Kate, I cannot move the spare tire. It is incorporated into my ladder. Is there a swingout that does use an extender? I was hoping I could at least get bikes on the back of my van. Thank you.
