Question:

Hi. I have a question about product A35RD545E. Timbren Axle-Less Trailer Suspension w Electric Brakes - Standard - 4 - 5 on 4-1/2 - 3.5K I am building a custom 7000lb GVWR trailer and want to install a surge brake actuator with Free backing drum brakes. I plan to use two 2 sets of axle-less spindles product A35RD545E in a tandem configuration. My question is can the axle-less spindle system work with a hydraulic surge brake actuator rather than the electric brakes? Thanks Adam

Hey Adam! You can do what you're wanting but not with two of the Timbren Axle-Less Trailer Suspension item # A35RD545E you referenced. You'll need different hubs those won't work with hydraulic brakes. I have listed below all of the parts you will need to use a Timbren system with a surge brake actuator with free backing drum brakes:

2 - Timbren Axle-Less Trailer Suspension item # ASR3500S04

4 - Dexter Trailer Hub & Drum Assembly for 3,500-lb Axles item # 84546UC3-EZ

2 - Dexter Free-Backing Hydraulic Trailer Brake Assembly - 10" - Left Hand item # T4071600

2 - Dexter Free-Backing Hydraulic Trailer Brake Assembly - 10" - Right Hand item # T4071500

Hey Adam, how did your tandem trailer build go using the Timbren axle-less suspension and the surge brake setup? Your results could really help others planning a similar custom trailer project.
