Can Spring Seats Be Moved On A Trailer Axle Tube

Updated 10/29/2024 | Published 10/27/2024

Question:

Hello, I am interested in your axle Part Number: e95SR. However, the spring center measurement is 3 to long. Is it possible to cut off the spring seat and make it loose?

Hi Tobin,

The springs seats on the Trailer Axle w/ Electric Brakes # e95SR could be cut off and new spring seats # TRSS238 can be welded onto the axle tube by a certified welder where you need them to sit.

Hi Kevin, I was just planning on keeping them loose as they are on my current trailer. For that, I would use these - PN CE23002. Would that work? Thanks, Tobin

@Tobin No, spring seats have to be welded to the axel tube and U-bolts # CE23002 clamp the leaf springs to the axle/spring seats. If the spring seats aren't welded to the tube and are "loose" they will certainly break free and you'll lose the trailer on the road. Spring seats have to be welded to the axle tube.

@KevinC - glad I asked! I’ll order the new seats and weld them in place.
