Recommended Adapter for a Trailer w/ LED lights that Turn Off When Turn Signals Are On

Updated 12/22/2025 | Published 09/30/2024

Question:

I have a 94 dodge ram that has standard lights not LED. I have a new 10 ft utility trailer with led lights. When I plug in the lights. All of the lights work like they should. The only problem I have is if my turn signal is on and I step on the brake. The turn signals stop working. Then when I let off the brake they work again. How do I fix this problem? Todd Miller

Hey Todd! your trucks computer isn't reading the voltage right with the LED tail lights. You'll need to use the 7-Way Trailer Adapter for Towing Trailers with LED Lights item # C57003. This adapter has load resistors which simulate increased power draw so the vehicle thinks there are incandescent lights on the trailer.

Hey Todd, how did things go after you tried the 7-way trailer adapter with your Ram and LED trailer lights? Did it clear up the turn signal issue when braking? Your update could make it easier for others with the same setup.
