What Compressor For Firestone Ride-Rite Air Bags on Ford F-250

Updated 01/05/2026 | Published 09/27/2024

Question:

I have a 2011 F250 with the Firestone Ride-Rite F2597 installed last year. Im sick of not knowing what the pressure in the bags is and sick of dealing with two Schrader valves. Can you recommend an air gauge and union? Ive seen installs where people hide the gauge and valve in the fueling compartment can you recommend parts to do that? I live in an area that experiences freezing winters so I dont know if the gauge can stay outside.

Hey Davy,

Totally understand it can be frustrating not knowing what the air pressure is in your Firestone Ride-Rite Air Bags # F2597, and it sounds like you're just wanting to use a compressor system with an air gauge. That's a smart idea because it's absolutely going to make it much simpler to monitor the psi in the bags.

I'll give you a couple options, and though you mentioned a gauge, by far the easiest way to do this is with a wireless compressor that comes with a remote or allows you to use an app on your phone. Using a wireless compressor also means you don't have to run wires for a gauge into your cab, so I do recommend considering going with the Firestone Air Command Heavy Duty Air Compressor # F56VV.

That said, if you wanted to stick with the more traditional type of air gauge, the compressor for that is the Firestone Air Command Heavy Duty Air Compressor # F2097.

This does come with the union tee needed for the air lines, as well as the rest of the hardware needed for the install.

Hey Davy, how did things go with the Firestone Air Command compressor setup for your F250’s Ride-Rite system? Did the wireless or analog option end up giving you the pressure control you wanted? Your experience could help others looking to simplify their air bag monitoring too.
