Are Air Lift Air Bags Harsh Installed in 2020 Chevy Silverado 1500
Updated 01/05/2026 | Published 09/10/2024 >
Question:
I have a 2020 Chevy Silverado 1500 that I installed air lift 5000 ultimate bags on. The ride quality has been very rough especially in the back seat. I have tried to run the bags with 5 psi all the way up to 30 psi. It seems to be bearable at 15 psi but is still very rough. Is there a fix for this issue or are the bags not worth it?

Hey Andy, so air bags can be a little tricky to dial in the perfect pressure that balances ride quality and support but did the Air Lift kit you installed have the internal jounce bumpers?
Normally when someone wants suspension enhancement that also isn't harsh I recommend the Roadactive kits like the part # RAS54FR that fits your 2020 Chevy Silverado 1500. This is the best of all worlds as it's an easy install, great adjustable support, and actually improves ride quality and stability loaded and unloaded.

Hey Andy, how did things turn out after trying the RoadActive kit on your Silverado? Did it help smooth out the ride compared to the air bags? Your update could make it easier for others dealing with the same rough ride.
