Question:
I am interested in purchasing a 18k BandW patriot 18k slider my current hitch is a reese 16k slider 22 yrs. old now no troubles just would like to upgrade. My concern is hitch height measurement top of hitch to bottom says 17 1/2 inches is this to the bed or the top of rails reese rails. I bought a correct track kit from your store to raise my 5th wheel because it set unlevel causing the rear auto levelers lippert 3.0 to be dangerously close to the ground. I dont want to be back to square one

Hey Jerry, the height range of the B and W Patriot Slider part # BWRVK3270 is measured from the top of your fifth wheel rails to the top of the hitch's head. The range for this hitch is 17-19 inches. If that doesn't work for you what would be your ideal height range?

well my reese hitch is set at 16" i am going to hook trailer and measure rear jacks to ground which i am comfortable with with the correct track. Then i will unhook trailer and raise and set two hardwood blocks 1" on hitch faceplate let trailer back down and check to see the difference in rear jacks to ground clearance do to geometry I think it will will be less than an in that the blocks are. From there I can raise the 5th wheel king pin 1" up and be close to where i started . if that is the case I will order B&W 18k patriot slider from your store. Worst case I will order a reese 16k replacement upper hitch. Much rather be going with patriot or curt a16. Sound reasonable?
