Inverter/Converter Recommendation for Replacing MagneTek Series 6400A in Pop Up
Updated 11/11/2024 | Published 07/29/2019 >
Question:
I recently purchased a 1989 Skamper 100S slide-in pop up camper. It has a MagneTek Series 6400A. The previous owner who is now deceased cut the shore-line wires and the 12vdc fuse is missing. There is really no way to reconnect a shore-line on it as the wires are cut super short. It does have 3 120ac wires coming out of it. Unknown why he did this. What is a reasonable replacement for this unit. I was looking at your items. Cost is a major factor as I only use it parodically but eventually want to camp more. Right now, I just run off the 12 volt system, but someday would like to camp where I can plug in. Your help is greatly appreciated Thank you

The most similar converter panel we offer for RVs like yours that is also priced well is the Progress Dynamics RV Power Control Center with AC/DC Panel and Converter/Smart Charger # PD4135K which is rated for 30 amps of AC and DC power similarly to what you have now.

Hello- C.

Hello- I also have a magnetek 6400 series converter in a recently purchased 1995 Coleman Popup. I have no power when the large 30 amp cord is plugged into the power source post. The 30amp cord is wired into the converter, and a Inteli Power 9100 is wired into that. A standard extension cord is plugged to the 9100 pc from which I can use the hard wired dome light. When the 30 amp (was told it’s 30 amp) cord is plugged into the power source post nothing works inside or out. Might the 6400 unit be bad, or am I doing something incorrectly? Thx
