Question:

Can I use this hitch to replace the oem 2014 Toyota FJ Cruiser hitch to work with the Yakima Exo Swingbase System without the need for the further Yakima Hitch Extender Y69VR to clear a 285 rear tire?

Hello DeAnna. The Draw-Tite Max-Frame Trailer Hitch # DT37GR you mentioned is a custom fit hitch for a 2021-2024 Ford Bronco, so this will not fit an FJ Cruiser.

In order to determine clearance you can measure the distance from the hitch pin hole to the farthest point on the spare tire. The Yakima EXO SwingBase has 4-1/4" from the hitch pin hole to the closest part of the rack. Depending on the clearance you may or may not need the # Y69VR extension but the only way for you to know for sure will be to measure.

If you need to replace the hitch on your FJ Cruiser, the Draw-Tite # 75461 is the correct hitch for a 2014 Toyota FJ Cruiser.

Hey DeAnna, were you able to measure the clearance between your FJ Cruiser’s spare tire and the hitch pin hole? Knowing if the Yakima EXO SwingBase cleared the tire without the extension could really help others setting up a similar rack.
