Will a Curt Echo Brake Controller Override OEM Controller on a 2017 GMC Sierra 2500

Question:

Could any of the Bluetooth brake controllers over ride the oem brake controller in my 2017 gmc sierra 2500. I had 4 trips to the dealer over $1500 and warranty doesn’t cover wiring in the harness. Do all the wires running back to the 7 way have to work or does Bluetooth bypasses the wires running back. Does wireless only reads from where it is plugged in under the dash then jumps to the wireless in back and tells it what to do. So if I plug it the wireless in under the dash and then the wireless is plugged in the back besides power it can bypass the wires broken in the wire harness and work. If that’s possible it would be great.

Hey Dan, sorry to hear about the issues you're having with the brake controller on your 2017 GMC Sierra 2500!

I recommend installing the Curt Echo In-Line Bluetooth Brake Controller # C79DR because it installs under the back of your truck and will take priority away from your factory brake controller. If you were to install the Under-Dash # C32MV version, then you would need to disconnect the OEM brake controller and you might need to get the truck computer flashed at a dealer. From the looks of things you probably aren't wanting to check in with your friends at the dealership anytime soon which is why I recommend the In-Line.
