Question:
Hi. Will this item Thule Replacement Aluminum Shank Adapter - 1-1/4inch to 2 853-7292 work on a Thule T2 Pro bike carrier without having to make a new hole? Purchased a new vehicle with a 2inch hitch and need the flexibility to move between cars.

Hey Albert, thanks for reaching out!
The Thule Replacement Aluminum Shank Adapter # 853-7292 is designed for some older hanging bike racks and won't work for your Thule T2 Pro # TH23JV with a 1-1/4" shank. We have the Trailer Hitch Receiver Adapter # e58YR you can use to get the rack to fit with a 2" receiver, but Thule states not to use their racks with different brand adapters so doing this would likely void your warranty.
The only way to use your current rack with a 2" hitch without voiding the warranty is to change out the stinger to part # TH37MY, but this is only if you have the XTR version of the T2 Pro, and it's a high enough cost that it would be worth going with a different bike rack that can accommodate both hitch sizes easier rather than using this part.
A great alternative option is the RockyMounts MonoRail # RKY10007-05 which has similar features to the T2 Pro XRT but it's at a lower price-point and has an adapter for 1-1/4" and 2" hitches.

Hey Albert, how did things work out with your Thule T2 Pro and the new 2-inch hitch? Did you end up switching to the RockyMounts MonoRail or find another setup that worked better? Your update could make it easier for others facing the same hitch change.
