How to Determine Which Dexter Electric Brakes Fit Jayco Pop-Up Camper

Updated 02/03/2026 | Published 07/20/2024

Question:

I have a 2007 Jayco 1207 popup camper with Dexter electric brakes. How do I figure out what axle/brakes/drums that I need. Where and what do I measure? Thanks

Hey Florian,

It's actually really easy to determine what the correct Dexter electric brakes are for a pop-up camper. To determine this, you just have to measure the inside diameter and depth of your drum.

For example, the Dexter Nev-R-Adjust Electric Trailer Brake Kit # 23-47-48 are for 2,000 lb axles, measure 7" diameter x 1-1/4" wide (so that is the drum size they fit in).

Since pop-up campers are pretty light, I'd be willing to bet the # 23-47-48 are what you'll need, but definitely measure just to make sure. If not, I have added a link below to our entire selection of Dexter electric brakes for you which you can filter through by size.

Hey Florian, what did you find when you measured the inside diameter and depth of your drum on the Jayco camper? Once you confirmed the size, did the Dexter brakes end up being the right fit? Your update could make it easier for the next person checking their setup.
