Question:
Hello I recently bought a used Yakima ridgeback four bike hitch Mount rack. It is in really good shape however its missing the zip strips and speed knob assembly. It does have the 2-in adapter on the rack already but its missing the wedge piece that attaches to the speed one and a quarter inch wedge. I see that the zip strips and speed knob are available but is it possible to just purchase the wedge adapter that connects to the one and a quarter inch speed knob instead of the whole one and a quarter to 2 in adapter assembly? Also I would be interested in knowing if there is any other way to tighten the rack and prevent sway without the speed knob assembly as I have read reviews that the speed knob fails quite a bit with the threads stripping. Any info you can provide would be greatly appreciated thank you.

Hello Justin, thanks for reaching out. We do have the Zip Strips # Y55XR which will fit your Yakima Ridgeback bike rack. The wedge piece is not available by itself though, so the only way to get one is to get the Replacement SpeedKnob and Wedge Assembly for Yakima Bike Racks # 8880508.
With the rack that uses a 1-1/4" to 2" adapter, there is really no other anti-rattle device that can be used with this setup. Tightening the SpeedKnob will be the best way to reduce play.

Hey Justin, how did things go with the replacement SpeedKnob and wedge assembly for your Yakima Ridgeback rack? Did it help tighten things up and cut down on the sway? Your update could make it easier for others working with the same setup.
