Question:

I have an older eagle 8000 tow bar that I pull my ram 1500 with. I just bought a 2016 Jeep Wrangler. It has an aftermarket bumper with the rings you can take out. Is there anyway to adopt that to work. I still have the truck and might want to pull it sometime. Thanks

Hello Dave. The Roadmaster D-Ring Bumper Mounts will work with the older Eagle 8000 tow bar. We offer D-ring mounts in the following sizes:

- 3/4" D-Rings # RM-035

- 1" D-Rings # RM-035-1

Also, please do verify that your aftermarket bumper is rated for flat towing.

Another question: I have an older eagle 8000 tow bar that can be convert. I have a Smittybuilt after market bumper that is rated to tow. So would I be better off spending a little more money and getting the Smittybuilt tow bar? Dave

@David As long as your eagle tow bar is still in good working condition, I would definitely stick with the eagle. In my opinion, the Smittybuilt tow bars are not nearly as good of quality as the Roadmaster eagle 8000.

Jesse: I have a Smittybuilt after market bumper that is tow rated. Do you think I would be better off to buy a Smittybuilt tow bar or convert the eagle 8000 I own? Not much difference in the price? Thanks.... Scratching my head in Illinois! Dave M.

Jesse M. I received the part for a 1 inch D ring. RM - 035 - 1. It is a bit too tight. It will not fit! I could grind the D ring? The end that attaches to the tow bar is also to tight. I could grind that as well. I really don't want to do that. Is there any other option? What is your return policy? I was excited looked like what i needed to get towing. I have an older Eagle 8000 tow bar with a square bar? Not round? I look forward to hearing from you. Dave M.

@DaveM So yes you can return them if needed. We have had these adapters work with the Eagle 8000 tow bar many times in the past, so I am a bit perplexed. There is no other option for an adapter. I really can't recommend grinding them since this will void your warranty and could affect the integrity of the adapter. We also can't take a return if they have been modified or grinded. Ultimately it is up to you. The next step from here is to look at a new tow bar.

@JesseM The end that bolts up to the tow bar fits perfect. It is a little tight at the D ring. I am thinking about having a local welding shop grind a bit off the D ring. It wouldn't need much fabrication to get it to fit. I understand once I alter it! It is out of warrenty and it is mine! Nice heavy part! Great hardware came with it! Dave
