Front-Mounted Trailer Hitch For A 2013 Chevy Silverado Moving A 11,700lb GVWR Trailer

Updated 06/06/2024 | Published 05/31/2024

Question:

I have a 40’ trailer with a GVWR of 11,700. I want to get a front hitch for my truck for better maneuverability in tight spaces for my trailer. Can you help me find a good hitch for this?

Hey Devin,

With how heavy the trailer is the custom-fit front-mounted trailer hitches wouldn't have enough capacity so you'd have to go with a weld-on adjustable fit trailer hitch. We offer a few different drop lengths that you can choose from to hopefully line the receiver tube up either in the slot above the bumper or below the bumper to avoid trimming it.

16" Drop # 41990-16

10.865" Drop # 15902
11-1/2" Drop # 15903
18" Drop # C99CR

This is quite a bit of weight to place on the front axle so you might want to consider some extra support for the front suspension. For 2500/3500 models you could use the SumoSprings Solo Custom Helper Springs # SSF-202-47 to help handle the weight, absorb road shock, and minimize side to side sway.
