Features to know about

Stay Level and Confident: Up to 1,800 lbs of Front-End Support

A heavy bumper, winch, or front-mounted gear can push your suspension down and throw off handling. These SumoSprings Solo Custom Helper Springs add up to 1,800 lbs of support at 50-percent compression to keep your ride level and steady. They help your suspension handle the extra load so braking and steering feel consistent, and the vehicle stays balanced without bottoming out under weight.

Smooth Out the Rough Stuff: Progressive Load Control

The microcellular urethane springs compress progressively to match the load you’re carrying. With lighter loads, they engage softly for a smoother ride over bumps and rough roads. As weight increases, they stiffen up to provide more support—up to 80 percent compression—keeping things stable and comfortable whether you’re loaded or not.

Comparison image showing SumoSprings Solo Custom Helper Springs installed on a vehicle front axle, with one spring uncompressed and one compressed to demonstrate load support and suspension performance.

Keep Control When Things Get Uneven: Independent Spring Action

Each spring works on its own side of the vehicle to even out off-center loads and reduce body roll in tight turns. That means less sway when a semi passes or when you drive through uneven ground. The springs help keep both sides steady so your handling feels planted and controlled no matter where you drive.

Built Tough for Real Conditions: Durable, Maintenance-Free Design

These microcellular urethane springs stand up to oil, road salt, and UV rays without wearing out. They work in temperatures from -25 F to 200 F and compress vertically with minimal side expansion so nearby components stay protected. No air lines, no pressure checks—just install them with a simple no-drill setup and enjoy long-lasting suspension support without maintenance.

Sumo Springs really helped with the bumps in the front of the 2019 Ford E350 Winnebago! Very happy with them. Super easy install even though a bit awkward to reach the spot.

by:

Very easy installation. Would be nice if they were about 2” longer to get contact sooner but they were a good replacement for the hollow stock bump stops.

by:

Springs arrived on time without any damage. Installation was completed in about a half hour with a 10mm socket, 3” extension and ratchet to remove the stock bump block on our Ford E450. Then just thread the Sumo Spring in place of the removed block. This was the easiest upgrade I’ve done so far.

by:

Super easy to install maybe 30 minutes for all 4
Fronts were done from above with wheel turned full right or left and load off that side with jack, rears jack to take off load only used large flat head screw drive to remove replace
improved side to side roll/sway ride is firmer went with the black capacity maybe yellow on rear if loads increase

by:

these look like the perfect thing for my tired old helper springs, I put SumoSprings on my rear axel of my Jeep a year ago and the have made that ride much better hoping for the same with these.

by:

Installed Sumo Springs on my 2019 Chevy 4500 motorhome, I was looking for ride improvement without breaking the bank. These days so many products are marketed well but never match the performance that was promised. That is not the case with Sumo Springs!!! I am very pleased with the ride improvement, sway is gone when transitioning from different levels of pavement and the shock of bumps is 50% better!! Installed myself on front and back in about 1 hour, front ended up about 3/8” higher after a couple days, got front end alignment done but didn’t need any adjustment. Finished a 400 mile road day today and my wife and I are very pleased. Excellent product!!

by:

What most new RV owners don't know is that the chassis that their new mobile home sits on barely has the equipment to support that new home. Adding SumpSprings is going to improve your ride and help support the structure of your home. FYI, use a jack on the leaf springs to help align the holes on the bracket to the ones on the frame.

by:

I’ve made several purchases from eTrailer and have been satisfied every time! Recently bought front and rear Sumo helper springs. Installation was a breeze. They have helped reduce the side to side sway caused by wind, freeway traffic and rough roads. So far im very happy with them.

by:

Installed front Sumosprings yesterday but have not driven vehicle yet. The front have full contact with the A-frames.
Should help with van side-to-side sway.
Shopping around for a set to install on the rear as well.

by:

2006 Dodge Ram 3500 SRW 5.9 Cummins 4x2
Original
bump stops were dry rotted and almost not existent. Very easy install. Took about 30 minutes. The Sumo springs are engaged all the time. This may be due to the truck being a 4x2? You can feel the front end is stiffer over bumps and dips of the road, which I feel is ok and not extreme. Towing the 5th wheel I feel the truck handles better than before.

by:

Ordering and delivery was quick and easy. The SumoSprings really improved the ride of our C Class RV. The only problem was one of the springs had cross threaded threads so I had to tap the treads to make it work. They were delivered in a plain brown box with no manufacture information or instructions. It makes believe the were a returned item, the previous purchaser couldn't get them to work either. I just had the tools and skill to correct the problem.

by:

I recently purchased/installed SumoSprings for the front axle on my 2018 Thor Freedom Elite 28FE. Having previously purchased/installed SumoSprings for the rear axle I have to say that the overall improvement in ride/handling has exceeded my expectations. As always, etrailer provided valuable insights and prompt inquiries to my questions. The level of in-depth product knowledge amongst the etrailer staff is second to none. Thanks etrailer!

by:

Product is great, exceeded my expectations. Install is simple and straightforward. It’s a night and day difference in both the body roll and the handling small bumps all the way up to off-road conditions.

by:

I have a Workhorse W22 chassis. I installed steering dampeners and HD sway bar to reduce the "loose" steering. After installing the SumoSprings Front Spring helpers on the front end, 90% of the looseness on the front end disappeared. It is now a pleasure to drive. Very little sway from passing trucks and cross winds. I will be installing a set on the rear this year.

Product appears to dampen front end response so far to hard bumps. I definitely rate the install on these things LOWER than POOR. The instructions lead you to believe that you can simply twist and push these in place. This is not the case for the home mechanic with a floor jack. I had to take the truck to a mechanic and he threw all kinds of muscle, people, pry bars, and other items at these to get them to seat properly. Once in, they appear to function as intended. I would suggest you consider the fact that you may need outside assistance when installing these things.

by:

Installed in a 2019 3500HD Chevy Dually for a little extra support with an upcoming bumper. These do help dampen with potholes and railroad tracks. Takes the sharpness of the hit out which is nice. Big props to the folks who can install these in 30 minutes. Old ones were a nightmare coming out and the first two Sumos not much better. Ended up putting them in the, freezer for a while which seemed to help on the next two. Quality product though, and Etrailer is great as usual.

by:

Easy installation, very good performance. no worry about air line or compressor failure.

by:

I bought the sumo springs for the front of my 16 2500hd Duramax. The install was really simple Chanel lock pliers twist and pull old ones out and a little glass cleaner and a small pry bar pushed new ones right in. Went with the sumo springs over the timbrens cause I didn’t want the truck sitting on the stops and the sumo springs still have about 1 inch before they touch control arm so normal ride isn’t affected only have the added support when I install my V plow
Very satisfied with etrailer and the sumo springs thank you

by:

Installation in a 2022 Sierra 2500HD was easy, used large Channel locks to remove factory, new ones popped in by blocking them with wood wedge while vehicle was jacked up and releasing jack quickly so all weight would come down at once.
Only have aprox 100 miles on new Bump Stops but ride feels smoother as they are engaged at rest, unlike factory that engage on bumps. Need more miles to fully review.

  • Suspension Enhancement Options For A 2024 GMC 3500 Experiencing Sway With A Truck Camper
Hey Marc, When it comes to anti-sway bars the thicker the better they'll perform so you'll want measure the thickness of your current bars and swap them out accordingly. The thickest options we offer for your 2024 GMC Sierra 3500 are the Hellwig Front Anti-Sway Bar - 1-1/2" Diameter # HE79TR and Roadmaster Rear Anti-Sway Bar - 1-1/2" Diameter # RM25FR. We don't currently offer replacement shocks but you can't go wrong with some Bilstein 5100's. You can also install SumoSprings Solo Custom...

  • Recommended Front-Mounted Trailer Hitch For A 2016 Chevy Silverado 2500 Diesel
Hi Michael, I have a couple of options for your 2016 Chevy Silverado 2500 (diesel) to choose from. The first is the Draw-Tite # 65078 and the second is the Curt # C31071. Both have the same exact specifications when it comes to capacities but their one clear difference is where the receiver tube comes out. The Draw-Tite receiver tube is going to require you to trim a hole in the front air dam to allow it to stick through. The Curt receiver tube sits lower so that it can clear the front...

  • Does 2025 Chevy Silverado 2500 Need Front End Suspension Support When Going to Heavier Bumper
Hey Jon, 320 lbs is a lot of weight and since your truck is a 2500 I would go with the # SSF-202-47 to provide some additional support. This will also help with braking and handling as well since the weight won't want to transfer as hard under braking and turning.

  • Recommended Front Suspension To Improve Ride Quality On a 2022 Chevy Silverado 3500 Dually Diesel
I recommend installing the SumoSprings Solo Custom Helper Springs # SSF-202-47 for your 2022 Chevrolet Silverado 3500 dually diesel. These are our lightest capacity jounce springs at a 1,800lb so they will not give you a harsher ride. The 2,500lb Springs # SS66RR are stiffer so they will not absorb as much shock due to the denser material. I would only recommend Timbren Springs # TGMFK25D If you were adding a bunch of weight such as a plow. The Timbren creates a very harsh ride quality...

  • Can Timbrens Be Installed On a Lowered 2018 Chevrolet Silverado 2500
The best suspension enhancement option we have for a 2018 Chevrolet Silverado 2500 that is lowered is the SumoSprings Solo Custom Helper Springs part # SSR-207-47 for rear or part # SSF-202-47 for front which can be trimmed to better fit the space you have available. That said, the Timbren Rear Suspension Enhancement Systems like part # TGMRTT35D will not work as they simply won't fit in the space you have available most likely and cannot be trimmed.

  • Does EcoHitch Front Hitch for 2020 Chevy Silverado 2500 Have Capacity for Motorcycle Carrier
The EcoHitch front hitch part # EH57FR that you referenced has a vertical load limit of 1,000 lb so it would easily handle the weight of a 300 lb motorcycle. Front suspension enhancement would be a great idea to help give additional support when carrying the motorcycle. The SumoSprings Solo part # SSF-202-47 would give you the best support and ride quality so it would be what I would recommend.

  • Recommended Front SumoSprings for 2020 Chevy Silverado 2500 When Towing
The SumoSprings Solo Custom Helper Springs part # SSF-202-47 would be a great option for a 2020 Chevrolet Silverado 2500. These are a middle of the road option which are what I recommend since you won't be putting weight directly into the front of the vehicle like you would with a snowplow or other items as such. That said, you'll see the biggest improvement from rear improvements, the SumoSprings Rebel Custom Helper Springs part # SSR-203-40-2 which are what I recommend.

  • Front Suspension Upgrade for a 2020 Chevy Silverado 2500
Yes, you should definitely upgrade the front suspension on your 2020 Chevy Silverado 2500 if you're going to be using the EcoHitch Hidden Front Mount Trailer Hitch Receiver item # EH57FR. That much weight will put a lot of stress on your factory suspension and ball joints. The SumoSprings Solo Custom Helper Springs - Front item # SSF-202-47 have an 1,800 lbs capacity. These will support the heavy front-end loads you are going to be placing on your truck and it will keep your front end level....

  • Front Hitch Receivers Available for 2015 GMC Sierra 3500 Denali
The one front-mount hitch available for your 2015 GMC Sierra 3500 Denali is the Curt model # C31071. This offers no-drill installation and the linked video will show you the process and final appearance. There is a Draw-Tite hitch offered # 65078 but this is not a fit for the Denali. If you plan to use a heavy front-mount accessory such as a plow or cargo carrier you might consider a front-axle suspension kit like a set of rubber jounce springs such as # SSF-202-47. This no-drill kit...

Hey Devin, With how heavy the trailer is the custom-fit front-mounted trailer hitches wouldn't have enough capacity so you'd have to go with a weld-on adjustable fit trailer hitch. We offer a few different drop lengths that you can choose from to hopefully line the receiver tube up either in the slot above the bumper or below the bumper to avoid trimming it. Hi Debra, If you're wanting suspension enhancements for a snowplow and for towing your Avalanche, you'll need both front and rear suspension enhancements. For your front axle, I recommend using the Sumo Springs Solo Custom Helper Springs part # SSF-202-47 that are custom fit for your 2023 Chevy Silverado 2500. The TorkLift StableLoad Rear Suspension Upgrade with Quick-Disconnects - Lower Overload Springs # TLA7310 you were looking at for your 2021 Chevrolet Silverado 2500 are only a fit for the rear suspension of your truck as the front suspension has coil springs instead of leaf springs. I would recommend adding some SumoSprings Solo Custom Helper Springs # SSF-202-47 to the front of your 2015 GMC Sierra 3500. Your factory suspension on the front of your Sierra is not designed for the additional weight of something like a motorcycle being carried on the front of it. The SumoSprings are a progressive spring that provide up to 1,800lbs of capacity to assist the front suspension in supporting the additional load.
