Spare Tire For Boat Trailer With 5 on 4-1/2" Wheel Bolt & 195/55R15 Tires

Question:

Good evening, I have a dual axel custom boat trailer which has 5 lug 4.5 wheels. The tires are 195/55R15. I am looking to get a spare rim and tire but selection seems to be limited. Recommendations? Thank you!

Hey Jeff,

The reason the selection seems limited is because you have passenger tires on your boat trailer as there aren't 195/55R15 sized trailer tires. So there isn't a trailer tire and wheel you can get that's going to be the same size. A 195/55R15 tire measures 23.4" in diameter and 7.7" wide, and the closest size to that in a trailer tire is a 24" diameter, 6.9" wide, ST175/80R13 size tire.

So you can go with that for a spare in a pinch, or replace all your tires and wheels with that size, either with the load range D (1,610 lb capacity) Karrier ST175/80R13 Radial Trailer Tire with 13" Galvanized Wheel # AM31994 or the same wheel with load range C (1,360 lb capacity) tire, part # AM31952.

Thank you for your time, I had actually contacted the manufacturer of the custom trailer and he did advise me that they were not actually trailer tires. I had to go to the original rim company to get a spare. Thanks again! Jeff
