Single Axle Trailer, Should the Hanger or Shackle Be on the Front of the Trailer Frame

Can you put the shackle up front of the leaf spring?

It sounds like you have a single axle trailer and are curious about whether or not to put the hanger like the part # 28-5 or a shackle in front on the trailer frame. We recommend you put the hanger in the front.
The force from the bumps in the road not only pushes up on the suspension but it also pushes the axle to the rear of the trailer. Having the shackle in the rear allows that rearward shock get absorbed better as it allow for slight movement rearward.
