Can you put the shackle up front of the leaf spring?

It sounds like you have a single axle trailer and are curious about whether or not to put the hanger like the part # 28-5 or a shackle in front on the trailer frame. We recommend you put the hanger in the front.

The force from the bumps in the road not only pushes up on the suspension but it also pushes the axle to the rear of the trailer. Having the shackle in the rear allows that rearward shock get absorbed better as it allow for slight movement rearward.

Generally speaking you will want to have 3 inches minimum from the top of your tire to the fender of your trailer to accommodate for suspension travel. Having a little more wouldn't hurt, but I wouldn't recommend any less than 3 inches.…
