Are Curt Q24 and Air RIde 5th Wheel Pin Box Compatible With 2024 GMC 3500 Short Bed

I am purchasing a 2024 GMC 3500 with the 6'10" bed. I would like to install the Q24 hitch and the Curt Air Ride for my 2019 Grand Design 351M. All of your information refers to my long bed. Are these products compatible with my new truck or do I need a slider?

It sounds like you might already have a Q24 from your old setup and would like to use it with your 2024 GMC 3500. The fixed Q24 # C16245 (for above bed rails) or # C37FR (for OEM prep package) will fit if you have the short bed. However, you are going to run into clearance issues.

A short bed typically requires a sliding 5th wheel hitch or rotating pin box. The Q24 is not compatible with a rotating pin box so using the Curt R24 Round Tube Slider for Q24 5th Wheel Trailer Hitches # C16570 with your Q24 head would be the only option to make it work.

The Q24 is technically compatible with the Curt Air Ride like # LC158778. However, the Q-series tends to create a scissor like motion when used with a cushioned pin box that will quickly wear it out so I don't recommend using the two together. Even though it may work for a time you would eventually destroy your equipment and waste your money when you have to replace it. If you have the Q-series hitch already I would sell it to recoup some money and put that towards a different 5th wheel hitch. If you were simply looking to buy one I would steer clear.

If I were to recommend a 5th wheel hitch it would definitely be a B&W. They make high quality products that deliver a great towing experience. I'm not sure what your setup will be so you can choose from the following:

If you have the OEM prep package

-B&W Companion OEM 5th Wheel Hitch w/ Slider for Chevy/GMC Towing Prep Package # BWRVK3775

If you do not have the prep package

-B&W Companion # BWRVK3400-5W with Custom Underbed Installation Kit # BWGNRK1020-5W

-B&W Patriot # BWRVK3270 with # BWRVK2505 if you want above bed rails.
