Hey Bob, I am happy to look into this for you. You are installing this front hitch on a 2018 Toyota 4Runner, correct?

When you say "not quite" about how much would you say it is off by? If we are talking about a fraction of an inch, it is possible that the hitch was flexed slightly during shipping. This is actually quite common when shipping hitches. Mishandling of the box can cause the flanges on the hitch to bend slightly which would affect fitment in the way you are describing. The flex steel is designed to bend rather than break, so it may be possible for you to bend the flanges back into position.

Please take a look at the article I linked below. It will go over this process in detail.

If you want to email me a few pictures illustrating exactly what is going on I am happy to take a look. My email address is [email protected]. Let me know if there is anything else I can do to further assist.

Hi Jesse Thanks for responding. All the bolts will align. Problem is metal pieces on each side that angle across to the bumper don’t allow clearance. This is a 2018 sr5 with no skid place in the way. I can’t remove those supports on each side. Maybe someone else has solved this. I can’t seem to attach a photo. I’ll try another way. Bob

@Bob I cannot say this is an issue we have heard of with this hitch before. There is no way for you to put pictures in the comments on here, but you can email them to me at [email protected] and I am happy to take a look and see what can be done.
