Hi Donna,

If you don't have enough room then there are other handrail options available depending on the style of steps your RV has. For example, if you have pull-out steps then you could install the Stromberg Carlson Rail Mate Folding Handrail for RV Steps # AP-101. This handrail has a bracket that you'll bolt to the side of the steps to allow you to easily mount and remove it as needed. If you have a different style of steps then let me know and I'd be happy to look for a solution.

We have the Lippert solid step . They come out farther than our old steps. That's why I need the longer handrail.

@Donna For Lippert SolidSteps you'll have to go with the Lippert Entry Assist Handrail # LC799640. This handrail has brackets that bolt to the side of the step and pins to mount it into the brackets incase you don't have enough clearance for the handrail to stay on the steps when you close them up. Another possible option might be the MORryde Safe-T-Rail Telescoping RV Hand Rail # MR54BR. This would also attach to the wall of the trailer and would need at least 2-1/2" of clearance between the awning arm and the edge of the wall for it to fit. After installing it I would say this is one of the best, if not the best, handrail options on the market. I've attached video links for both below so that you can see how they work.
