Why won’t this work on the two step? Can it be modified to fit? I have access to machine and weld shop.

The way the Lippert Entry Assist Handrail for SolidStep Manual RV Steps part # LC799640 installs and where it mounts will not fit on a 2 step Solid step like part # LC713662. There is no where for the bottom piece of the hand rail to install. I have attached a photo for your reference. For this reason I cannot recommend modifying the rail.
I recommend to use a Stromberg Carlson Folding Handrail for Fleet RVs part # AC-544 which installs on the side of the RV and folds up against the trailer when not in use. I have attached the dimensions of the hand rail for your reference.
