Question:

What is the most durable over the cab ladder rack you would recommend in conjunction with this cover. I’m a contractor and looking for a full rack with sides and all.

Hi Ruben; thanks for the question, and while there is one rack for your 2023 Ford F-150 with a 6-1/2' bed compatible with the Pace Edwards UltraGroove Metal Retractable Hard Tonneau Cover # PE66UV, it does not have sides, and is part # TX84NV.

There actually isn't a ladder rack with sides compatible with a tonneau cover as those all require bed rails to install. The EL200 has 200 lbs of capacity as well, which I'm not sure is enough for you, so I did want to mention other options.

What you can do is get a different tonneau and a more robust ladder rack, the BAK Revolver X4s Hard Tonneau Cover - Roll Up # BAK89ZR with the Thule TracRac SR Sliding Truck Bed Ladder Rack # TH43002XT-501 or Thule TracRac SR Sliding Truck Bed Ladder Rack w/ Cantilever # TH43002XT-501EX.

These work with the Revolver because that tonneau is inside the bed rails and the TracRac fits on top of the bed rails. The racks have a 1,250 lb capacity and the option with the Cantilever extension gives you more area to put your cargo.

Hey Kyle, I don’t mean the rails on the bottom. I mean rails on the top sides, front to back along with over the cab. Like the contractor, rig rack. By pace, Edwards. Those other racks won’t work as I haul stuff up to 24+ feet long. I need over the cab, but I want the rear in the front rack portion connected at the sides of the top like your standard full over cap rack.

@RubenV Gotcha, thanks for that additional detail; I did look at the Pace Edwards Contractor rack but there isn't one for the F-150 I'm sorry to say. The only over-the-cab ladder rack that works with a tonneau cover is the TracRac SR # TH43002XT-501EX i mentioned earlier. Otherwise you'd have to go with a rack but not a tonneau cover, the Buyers Products Over-The-Cab Truck Bed Ladder Rack - Aluminum # 3371501400 or Black # 3371501410.

@KyleS thanks for the info. I would never put a roll up tonneau cove on my truck. It would have to be an aluminum retractable. I find it insane that no one makes a over the cab rack compatible with any of the covers with rail slots for the f150. I mean it’s the most sold truck/work truck in the United States annually. I would even compromise with a cantilever rack like the Thule with the weight rating it has. But I guess I’ll have to figure something else out.
