Will an Anderson Hitch Work w/ a 2023 Ram 3500 w/ Ramboxes to Pull a 5th Wheel Trailer?

Question:

I have a 2023 ram 3500 with rambox and looking to purchase Brinkley z3100. I am having the dealer install the OEM puck system gooseneck under the bed setup. I would like to use their current Brinkley pin box with an Anderson gooseneck hitch adaptor 5th wheel setup. Would there be any issue with the rambox to achieve a 90 degree turning radius?

Yes, there will. Unless your Anderson hitch can get the connection above your bedsides you need a rotating pin box like the Reese Sidewinder item # RP34FR to avoid your Ramboxes. The rotating pin box moves the turning point of your 5th wheel trailer above your Ram's narrow bedsides to give you a full 90 degree turning radius. You would need to use a standard 5th wheel hitch instead.

The Reese Sidewinder item # RP34FR fits quite a few different pin boxes but I would need to see the sticker on your Brinkley z3100 5th wheel trailer to verify it is the correct one you will need.

Appreciate the feedback I thought that might be the case. I looked the sidewinder as well and really like it. Which 5th wheel hitch would you recommend?

@KeithS No problem! Your original question was kind of a head scratcher to me because I was under the belief that you couldn't get the factory puck system installed in a truck that didn't come with it from the factory. With that being said if you are getting the Ram puck system installed the best 5th wheel hitch is going to be the he B&W Companion OEM 5th Wheel Hitch for Ram Towing Prep Package item # BWRVK3600. This 5th wheel hitch has a 25,000 lbs capacity and will mount directly to the puck system for easy installation and removal. The Companion's 1" thick dual jaws will give you a 360-degree jaw to kingpin contact. This system minimizes the chucking, jarring and noise that can occur when towing a fifth wheel trailer. This not only provides a more secure connection but also a quieter more comfortable towing experience.

Reese also an airborne sidewinder would that be applicable on this setup?

@KeithS It all depends on what pin box your new 5th wheel trailer has. Once you get a picture of that sticker I can find out what it is and get you some options.
