Video Transcript for Review of etrailer Portable Solar Panel - Portable Solar Panel PWM Solar Charge Controller - e28VV

Hi, everybody. Andy here with etrailer.com. Let's take a look at this Etrailer portable solar panel with PWM Solar Charge Controller. Now this lightweight, portable 100 watt monocrystalline solar panel is gonna give you an off-grid charging solution. With this, you're gonna be able to park your rig in the shade and then place this solar panel out in the sun for a maximum charge. Now obviously this panel is going to convert the sun's energy into DC electricity, and then that electricity is going to charge your battery and your RV so you can power your devices that are connected to your batteries.

So again, this is a 100 watt panel, and this is going to give you a maximum output current of 4.8 amps and a short circuit current of 5.1 amps. Now obviously finding the right solar package for your setup can be stressful with all the questions about wattage, amp hours, panel dimensions, conversion formulas, amperage ratings, and a whole lot more. Fortunately, we can take all that stress off of your plate. Check out our Etrailer solar calculator, and I am providing the link for you on your screen. And if you go to that link, that calculator will help you determine the best setup that you need by just having you answer a few questions.

So if you're wondering about what's gonna work best for you, take a look at our Etrailer solar calculator. Now as you can see, this does unfold to reveal folding legs here in the back for support. I'm gonna show that to you here in just a second. And this is going to close securely with integrated magnets. So I do have this currently propped up on the legs here.

So I'm gonna go ahead and close these legs here from the back real quick. And I just wanna show you how this is going to close securely. So I'm gonna make sure I'm not knocking everything else off my table here. So if you listen carefully, you can hear that click, and now we are securely shut. And by the way, this weighs about 10 pounds, so this isn't overly heavy.

This is gonna be very portable. And then on the back here, these are those legs here, and they're held in place by hook and loop strips here. And so I'm just going to open this up again and show you the reverse. And then you see these legs here that, you know, you're just going to easily prop them up. And there, you've got a range here, so you can adjust the angle that's going to work best for you to capture the most sunlight. So again, this is the backside. Let me give you some measurements real quick. Looking at what I'm calling here the overall width when this is open as it is now, we're right at about 50 inches wide. And then the overall length is going to be 21 inches long. And then when you have it closed, it's going to range in thickness from about an inch to an inch and a half. So very portable, very easy to handle. You see we have integrated handles here, and this is made from impact-resistant materials and it feels premium. So I think this is going to hold up really well for you. Before I open this back up, I did want to show you here, I thought this was pretty ingenious here. We do have this pouch here that actually conceals your cable. So let me find the zipper here. So as you can see here, you open this up and then we have our MC4 cables that are going to just be really convenient here just to pull this open and plug it into place. And so everything is going to be in one place. You're not gonna have to worry about losing these cables. These cables are about six feet long, but we do carry extension cables as well if you're in need of that. So these are going to be conveniently placed right here. And then when you're ready to hit the road, you're just going to make sure that everything's back in that pouch, zip it shut, and then they're going to be nice and safe in that contained pouch. So that's a neat addition that this has. So let me go ahead and prop this back open, and you can see just how easy this is to use. I'm gonna open up my legs here again, and then just set it up here. And now I am ready to catch some rays there to charge up my batteries. So I want to give you a closer look here at the front of my table here and talk about the real quickly, this 30 amp controller that is included with this. And this is going to obviously help prevent harmful overcharging of your RV batteries. This is going to monitor and adjust output from your solar panels. And this is going to work with your 12 volt, 24 volt, 36 volt and 48 volt battery and solar systems. This is going to work as you see there on your screen with sealed gel, AGM, flooded lead acid and lithium iron phosphate batteries. And as you can see here on the unit, this does include a really nice screen here. Lemme see if I can bring this up here just a little bit so you can have a better look here. A really nice screen there so you can see what's going on easily at a glance. This does feature digital pulse width modulation technology that's going to regulate panel output to give you a consistent charge. And the automatic multi-stage charging is going to switch modes as the battery charges. That's gonna help extend your battery life. This does include preset charging profiles, again for the sealed gel, AGM, flooded and lithium batteries. And the maximum solar array current is gonna be 30 amps. The maximum solar panel input voltage is 100 volts. And then the maximum solar array input power is gonna be 390 watts at 12 volts, 780 watts at 24 volts, 1,170 watts at 36 volts, or 1,560 watts at 48 volts. So this is a back-lit display. It's a digital LCD display. And if you also noticed, this does have 1, 2, 3, 4 USBA ports that are gonna allow you to charge devices while the solar panels are generating power. And this is going to be about 7 3/16 inches wide, four inches tall and about two inches deep, just to give you an idea of the size of that unit. An SAE table is included. It's going to let you connect the solar controller to the solar input port on your RV. And then just going back to out to my wide view here, this also includes the wiring that you see here on my table. You're going to get wire with the MC4 connectors here, and then the black, and the black and red wire with the ring terminals over there. And then the, all four of these bundles of wire, they measure about 7 1/2 meters. And this does have a limited lifetime warranty. And so, if you do decide to pick this up, if you decide after our time looking at all the specs of this, if you decide this is going to be something that's gonna work for you, after you set it up and use it, let us know how you're using it and how it works for you. And if you have any other things that you've learned about it that you'd like us, to let us know, you can leave a comment, you can leave a review or even give us a call and let us know how you're using it and how it's working for you. Well, that's gonna wrap up our look today. I do hope that it was helpful for you. Again, my name is Andy. Thank you for joining me.
