Question:
I am preparing a 2003 Pontiac Grand am to be a towed vehicle. Brake lights and turn signals are separate so I need a converter box. Measured brake light draw is about 8 amps. Will this tolerate that much current? Thank you.

I spoke with my contact at Tow Ready about converter # 118158. He said that at most the converter is rated for 2.1 amps per side for brake and turn signals so it would not work for you.
I recommend going with a kit that bypasses the vehicle wiring such as a bulb and socket kit, # BX8869, or a magnetic kit such as # RM-2120.
I have included some links to articles on tow bar wiring for you that should also help.
