Updated 12/05/2025 | Published 11/08/2023

Question:

Hello I have a BXW0873 weight distribution hitch that was supplied by trailer dealer. It has a 2 inch shank. My new truck 2023 F350 XLT has a 2.5 receiver. Will my weight Distribution head fit on the BLU26fr shank. If so what other hardware will be needed if any. thank you

Expert Reply:

We have a shank you can use with your Blue Ox 2-Point Weight Distribution Hitch # BLU82XR (which is your BXW0873), but the TrackPro shanks like you asked about are a bit wider than standard. So what you can use is a more standard shank from Equal-i-zer:

- Equal-i-zer Weight Dist Shank - 2-1/2" Hitch - 10" Rise/6" Drop # EQ90-02-4900

This has the correct size and hole spacing, and weight distribution shanks do not have to have the same manufacturer as the hitch to work together. You will not need any other hardware either.

Kyle, I came across this q&a and this is also my situation. However, I do not know what Blue Ox weight distribution hitch I have. Where can I find the product number?

@DanD Identifying what you have actually isn't as complicated as you might think. There should be weight ratings at the end of the spring bars which can help narrow down which exact one you have, but what you need to do is look at the bars themselves. If they curve up into the bottom of the head, you have a 2-Point system. If they are completely straight and are attached to your trailer with chains, you have a SwayPro. If they are completely straight and are attached to your trailer with brackets (so no chains), you have a TrackPro. If you still aren't completely sure, take a few pictures of the whole system and any labels you can find and send them to [email protected] and I can take a look at it.
