Using Trailer Jacks To Transport A Yakups Kayak Carrier

Question:
Greetings. Thank you for your help. This kayak bike rack is too much/cumbersome for me to handle. I was thinking about putting four of these type crank jacks around it to help move it. Loaded it is about 375#. Would you have a kick to recommend given the questions below? The bars are 2”x1”. I don’t see a good place to use bolts and think they should probably be welded. Agree? How long are the swivel arms when swiveled up? Thanks again.

Thank you for the picture. That kayak carrying device certainly does look cumbersome. Quite the interesting contraption. While generally we do not recommend modifying products like this, but I am happy to help if I can.
With the bar being only 1" thick, the bolt on brackets we sell are not going to be sized correctly. I do agree that having it welded would be your best option. I would like to think that this crossmember piece will be strong enough to hold up the weight of the carrier and your gear. A jack like the # MJ-1500B-DWL I believe would work well for this purpose. More than enough weight capacity and the dual wheel will help keep it stable and easy to move. You could have the bracket portion welded to the bar. This way you can still use the pull pin to remove each jack when not in use. Again I would like to reiterate that we cannot recommend modifying any of these products in any way as it will void your warranty.
The jack itself is 12-5/8" from the center of the bracket to the bottom of the wheel when full retracted. I have attached some dimensions for your reference.
