I recommend the RetraxONE XR Hard Tonneau Cover # RTX37YR as the best option for your 2024 GMC Sierra 3500 short bed. This tonneau cover uses matte black polycarbonate slats which won't fade from UV rays and are scratch resistant. The cover can be locked in any position along the rails for carrying odd shaped loads.
It also has t-slots in the bed rails which will allow you to use a Ladder Rack # Y01151-5855 or Bed Rack # Y01152-5855 to haul additional gear.
