Are There Different Mounting Brackets Available To Transfer A Demco Autoslide To A GM Puck System

Question:

I have a Demco auto-slide 18k 5th wheel hitch in my 2017GMC 3500 that is attached on a rail system. Im looking to purchase a new GMC truck that has a puck system. Is here a conversion for this, or must I purchase a new hitch? The 2017 has a 6.5 bed and the potential TV has an 8 bed. I know I wouldnt need the autoslide, but then again would it be advantageous to just buy a new hitch?! Thanks for any advise you can provide.

You can definitely swap out the hitch for a new one if you're wanting to go with a fixed base that would weigh less than your Demco Autoslide # DM8550034, but you could also just swap out the mounting plates to save money. If you want to just swap out the plates you'll need part # DM49GV.

If you want to switch to a new hitch with a fixed base then I recommend the B&W Companion OEM 5th Wheel Hitch for Chevy/GMC Towing Prep Package # BWRVK3710. This hitch has feet to drop right into the pucks of your new Sierra and will take up way less space. The head can be removed from the base to make it lighter so that you can remove the hitch without the need of a lift or an extra set of hands.
