Question:
Why would I need the recommended RM62FR on my 2020 Buick Encore GX? And what exactly does it trigger?

Expert Reply:
The Roadmaster Stop Light Switch Kit # RM62FR is needed because the brake light switch wire of the 2020 Buick Encore GX isn't useable and this simulates the braking signal so that it can be sent out to the braking system. This allows you to see when the brakes are being applied while flat towing, which is important because you can easily verify if the brakes are activating when they shouldn't be or not activating when they need to so that you can pull over and troubleshoot the issue.
A year or two ago I had someone with a 2018 or 2019 model Buick Encore that had the brakes lock up because the breakaway pin wasn't installed correctly. They didn't watch the indicator light for their system and drug the vehicle for a quarter mile and ruined their rotors, calipers, and tires on the Buick. Something this simple can really throw a wrench into your plans so it's best to make sure everything is properly operating.
