Can this be mounted to a wooden frame surface or does it have to be mounted on a metal surface for gounding purposes?

The Seaflo Battery Disconnect Switch # SE29VR can be mounted to your wooden frame surface. It has a bottom cover to protect the surface you are mounting it to and the switch does not require any grounding.
