Adapter Needed To Connect A Demco Dominator Tow Bar To A Curt Baseplate

Updated 06/20/2023 | Published 06/19/2023

Question:

Good afternoon, I am looking for a base plate for my 2008 jeep wrangler JK. I have a Demco Dominator tow bar with the quick release pins. I was looking at the Curt Custom Base Plate Kit - Removable Arms. Would this work with my tow bar? Thank you for your help.

To connect the Demco Dominator Non-Binding Tow Bar # DM9511008 to the Curt Custom Base Plate Kit # C38FR you referenced you'd just need to use the Demco # DM9523041. This adapter has the same spread as the arms on the Curt baseplate making it a compatible adapter. If you didn't want to have to use an adapter then you could switch to the Demco Tabless Base Plate Kit # DM9519292 instead of the Curt # C38FR.

If you haven't picked out the rest of your flat towing components then I have the following recommendations for you:

Tow Bar Wiring Kit: Roadmaster Diode 7-Wire to 6-Wire Flexo-Coil Wiring Kit # RM-15267. This diode kit will splice into your Jeep's factory tail light wiring to display your motorhome's traffic signals through the tail lights of your Wrangler.

Since the battery needs to be disconnected in order to flat tow I recommend also installing the Roadmaster Battery Disconnect with Switch # RM-766 in order to make disconnecting/reconnecting the battery as simple as pressing a button.

Braking System: Brake Buddy Select 3 Portable Supplemental Braking System # HM39524. This system requires a bit of setup each time but is minimally invasive in the vehicle and can be stored elsewhere when not in use to free up space. It comes with a charge line kit to keep the towed vehicle battery charged while towing and a remote that alerts you when the brakes are being applied, as well as allow you to change the brake settings while still in the cab of the motorhome.

If you'd prefer a fixed system that would permanently install in the Wrangler then I'd just need to know the year/make/model of the motorhome to determine the correct system to work with the motorhome's brake type.
